The Day's Summary
Saturday's Tennessee baseball note came from an unexpected place, as Yahoo Sports' Southeastern Conference Week 8 predictions featured former Volunteers pitcher Zander Sechrist. The appearance placed a Diamond Vol inside a football picks column during the heart of football season.
It was a small item, but it carried a familiar offseason point: Tennessee baseball's former players remain visible figures across the conference conversation, even when the sport in season is football and baseball itself is in the middle of fall ball.
Updates Since October 23, 2026
On3's updates and notes from Tennessee's Oct. 23 scrimmage arrived too late for Friday's own summary. The workout was another date in the Vols' fall laboratory, with lineups shuffled, arms stretched out, and freshmen tested against SEC competition for the first time as the staff continued its spring evaluations.
