The Day's Summary

Tennessee softball legend Monica Abbott is returning to Knoxville for homecoming, Sports Illustrated reported Wednesday. The visit brings one of the program's defining figures back to campus for the weekend's celebrations.

Abbott's name still defines the ceiling for Tennessee softball, and her return places an all-time great at the center of a homecoming weekend built to celebrate exactly that kind of legacy. For the Lady Vols, it is a link between the program's past standard and its present.
