Tennessee Beats Florida A&M in Its Exhibition Game

The Lady Vols defeated Florida A&M in their exhibition game, according to Vols Wire's report on the contest. The game gave Tennessee a first competitive run-out of the new season, with a roster full of new players getting game minutes together.

Exhibitions occupy a particular place in a season's build. The win counts for confidence and rhythm, but the larger purpose is evaluation, letting Kim Caldwell and her staff see their team against a real opponent rather than against itself in practice.

For Tennessee, getting the win while getting those answers is the ideal combination. The Lady Vols now move toward the regular season with a clearer picture of their rotation and of the areas that still need tightening before the games start to count.
