Florida coverage
Pass yds allowed223.5/g (104th)
Total yds allowed369.3/g
3rd-down defense43.2% (118th)
Read: This is Oklahoma's best opening. Florida's pass defense is its weakest unit by ranking, and Mateer threw for 283 yards at Mississippi State two weeks ago. The catch: against South Carolina he had 47 passing yards through three quarters and both touchdowns came after the game was decided — his own coordinator called the outing “tentative.” If the hesitant version travels, this edge evaporates.

Read: Florida's starter is genuinely unsettled. Aaron Philo (shoulder) returned to start against Georgia, threw two interceptions on 5-of-7 passing and was benched; Tramell Jones Jr. threw for 172 yards but added an interception and a lost strip-sack fumble. Both were listed probable on the last posted availability report. Whoever starts faces the SEC's stingiest third-down defense — and a secondary that picked off LaNorris Sellers three times last week, even in a loss. *Jones total is summed from his pre-Georgia line plus the Georgia box score.

Rush yds allowed133.5/g
Vs. Georgia217 rush yds allowed
Woods (through 6 gms)4.5 sacks · 7 TFL
Read: Oklahoma has not produced a 100-yard rusher all season, and its quarterback — a 15-rushing-TD player at Washington State in 2024 — has 145 rushing yards and no rushing touchdowns this year. Florida's front can be run on (Georgia: 217 yards, 5.2 a carry), but Oklahoma is the wrong offense to count on doing it, especially behind a depleted line (see the OL card).

Missed tackles vs. SC24 (PFF)
Read: The game's decisive matchup. Baugh was held under 100 yards for a fourth straight game by Georgia (17 carries, 38 yards), but Oklahoma's defense just had its worst day of the season — 521 yards allowed, 24 missed tackles, and LaNorris Sellers accounting for nearly 400 yards. If the Sooners tackle like that in the Swamp, Baugh's slump ends. Florida's backup depth is thin: Duke Clark (ankle) was ruled out on the last posted report.

Florida DBs
Pass yds allowed223.5/g (104th)
Points allowed28.1/g
Vs. Georgia101 pass yds allowed
Read: Oklahoma's passing game is a two-man show: Sategna has more catches than every other Sooner wide receiver combined, and tight end Rocky Beers is the second option. That concentration is a vulnerability — Trell Harris, the third-leading receiver, was ruled out on the last posted availability report — but Florida's secondary ranking says the two who remain will find room.

Peyton BowenThorpe Award semifinalist
Vs. S. Carolina3 INT · 1 pick-six
Read: Florida's receiver room is the injury story of this game. Vernell Brown III (knee) has missed three games, was downgraded to questionable for Georgia and then ruled out on game day; Bailey Stockton (foot) played through a questionable tag and led the Gators against Georgia anyway. If Brown sits again, Florida's vertical game — already shrunk to screens and quick throws in recent losses — stays shrunk against a top-20 pass defense. Safety Peyton Bowen was probable / a game-time decision last week for Oklahoma.

Read: Oklahoma's line is the most battered unit in this game. Starting center Jake Maikkula was a late out against South Carolina (backup Caleb Nitta stepped in), and three more linemen were already on the out list, with guard Heath Ozaeta only recently back. Against a Florida front that held Georgia's offense to 20 points, a patchwork interior is a real problem for an already tentative quarterback. *Through six games.

Read: Florida's line just had the same nightmare Oklahoma's did: four sacks, 11 tackles for loss allowed, and 48 rushing yards against Georgia, including the strip-sack returned 66 yards for a touchdown. Oklahoma's front is the strength of its team — but it generated only 10 pressures and missed 24 tackles against South Carolina, so this edge is about Florida's line being worse, not Oklahoma's front being dominant right now.
