Tennessee listed at 3 percent in updated SEC title market after Week 8
Updated SEC championship odds on Polymarket after Week 8 leave Tennessee with only a small share of the market heading into its bye week. The Volunteers were listed at 3 percent in the update revealed Wednesday morning, a position shaped by what happened last weekend. Tennessee arrived at South Carolina on a three-game winning streak, but lost 27-24, dropping to 6-2 overall and 3-2 in conference play as the No. 16 team.
The wider league picture helps explain that standing. Kentucky leads the SEC at 5-1 in conference play, followed by Georgia at 4-1, and Week 8 did little to simplify the race. The week's only ranked-versus-ranked game in the league saw No. 19 Texas beat No. 7 Ole Miss, and three of the six SEC games played were decided by one possession. Kentucky also kept rolling, beating Vanderbilt 34-17 for its sixth straight win and improving to 7-1 overall.
Several teams sit ahead of Tennessee in the updated market. Alabama was listed at 11 percent after beating Texas A&M 31-20 to move to 6-2 overall and 4-2 in the league, while LSU was at 8 percent at 6-2 and 3-2. Kentucky was listed at 7 percent, Texas at 6 percent after its 34-27 win over Ole Miss, and Florida and Ole Miss at 5 percent each. South Carolina, despite beating Florida and Tennessee in consecutive weeks to reach 4-3, was listed at just 2 percent.
For Tennessee, the bye week comes before a game that will carry direct weight in the race. The Volunteers return in Week 10 with a home game against No. 9 Kentucky, the team currently leading the conference. With Tennessee already carrying two league losses, that meeting with the Wildcats offers both the clearest chance to climb back into contention and little room for another setback.
