Predicted Playoff Field Includes Four SEC Teams, Leaves Tennessee Out

A prediction of the College Football Playoff rankings places four SEC teams in the field, but Tennessee is not among them. The projection leaves the Volunteers outside the cut at this point, even as their own conference is expected to be well represented.

The outlook is framed as a for-now judgment rather than a final verdict. Tennessee's absence from the predicted field means, on this projection, the Vols still have work to do to move into playoff position while other SEC programs occupy the spots in front of them.

For Tennessee, the takeaway is straightforward: a strong conference showing in the rankings does not automatically carry the Vols with it. Until a later projection or the actual rankings put Tennessee inside the field, the team remains on the outside looking in.
