Coaches Poll Reshuffled Again After Another Week of Top-10 Upsets

Another Saturday of upsets produced another major reshuffle in the USA Today Coaches Poll, with two top-10 teams losing and movement throughout the top 25 heading into the final weekend of October. Miami remained at No. 1 after a 52-23 home win over Pitt, staying undefeated behind a big receiving day from Malachi Toney and a four-touchdown passing performance from Darian Mensah. Ohio State stayed at No. 2 while on its bye.

The biggest fall near the top belonged to BYU, which dropped six places to No. 9 after losing to UCF in double overtime, a week after beating Notre Dame to stay undefeated. Ole Miss also slipped, falling five spots to No. 12 after a 34-27 loss at Texas, despite recovering an onside kick to earn one last possession. Texas climbed seven places to No. 11 with that win, while Texas Tech tumbled nine spots to No. 14 after its first loss of the season, 37-24 at Cincinnati.

Georgia rose to No. 3 and Indiana to No. 4 after the Hoosiers won at Michigan in overtime, their first victory in Ann Arbor in 57 years. Utah moved up to No. 5 at 7-0 after beating Houston, Notre Dame sits at No. 6, and unbeaten UCLA climbed to No. 7 after beating Michigan State. Kentucky continued its surge to No. 8, now 7-1 overall and alone atop the SEC standings at 5-1 in league play after defeating Vanderbilt.

For Tennessee and the rest of the SEC, the poll reflects a league race that remains crowded behind Kentucky. Alabama bounced back to No. 10 by beating Texas A&M, LSU rose to No. 13 after defeating Auburn, and ranked matchups in the coming weeks will keep reshaping the order. With November approaching, the latest poll is less a final verdict than a snapshot of a season still producing weekly upheaval.
