Tennessee Commit David Gabriel Georges Runs for 247 Yards as Baylor Finishes Perfect Regular Season
Tennessee commitment David Gabriel Georges closed Baylor's perfect regular season with a dominant performance on Friday night, rushing for 247 yards and scoring all three of his team's touchdowns in a 21-7 win over Knoxville Catholic at Covenant Health Park in Knoxville. He needed only 12 carries to reach that total, and he also had an 88-yard touchdown run wiped out by a penalty, a play that underlined how little room Catholic found to slow him down.
The finale fit the pattern of his fall. Baylor had already locked up a third straight East Region championship a week earlier with a 27-7 win over Ensworth, a game in which Georges ran for 139 yards and a touchdown and added a touchdown catch. Across the schedule he repeatedly produced in limited or heavy workloads alike, from a 315-yard, five-touchdown outing at Trinity in Louisville to 196 yards and three scores at Rabun Gap and 159 total yards with three touchdowns against rival McCallie.
Georges, a 5-foot-11, 220-pound back in the 2027 class, is rated as a Five Star-Plus prospect and ranked No. 8 overall in the Rivals Industry Ranking, No. 2 among running backs nationally and No. 1 in Tennessee. He committed to Tennessee on July 22, choosing the Volunteers over Ohio State, Ole Miss and Georgia. As a junior he ran for 1,756 yards and 27 touchdowns while averaging more than 11 yards per carry and helping Baylor win a state championship.
For Tennessee, the appeal is the combination of physical readiness and big-game production. Evaluators point to his vision and ability to break tackles, along with a frame that is already well developed for the position, as reasons he projects as a workhorse back who could contribute early in college. Finishing an unbeaten regular season with a 247-yard night in Knoxville does not change his ranking, but it reinforces why the Volunteers made him a priority target.
