Tennessee Commit David Gabriel-Georges Closes In on Perfect Regular Season at Baylor

Tennessee five-star running back commitment David Gabriel-Georges has one regular-season game left at Baylor School, and it comes Friday night against Knoxville Catholic at Covenant Health Park in Knoxville. Gabriel-Georges has helped the Raiders reach 9-0 and claim a third straight East Region championship, closing the regular season in the same city where he is set to play his college football.

His weekly production has been remarkably steady across that unbeaten run. In the region-clinching 27-7 win over Ensworth, he ran 17 times for 139 yards and a touchdown and added a 10-yard touchdown catch, good for 149 total yards and three total touchdowns in the accounting of the game. A week earlier, on senior night against Legacy School of Sport Sciences, he scored twice in the first quarter on just six carries for 51 yards. Against rival McCallie, he carried 11 times for 109 yards and two touchdowns and caught two passes for 50 yards and another score in a 49-7 win.

The biggest nights came earlier in the schedule. At Trinity in Louisville, against a team that entered undefeated and ranked No. 1 in Kentucky's Class 6A, Gabriel-Georges ran 26 times for 315 yards and five touchdowns, scoring from 75, 59, 15, 14 and 10 yards in a 35-27 victory. He opened the season with 250 total yards and three fourth-quarter touchdowns against Brentwood Academy, and he added 196 rushing yards and three touchdowns at Rabun Gap-Nacoochee.

The 5-foot-11, 220-pound back is rated the No. 8 overall player in the Rivals Industry Ranking, the No. 2 running back in the country and the No. 1 player in Tennessee. He committed to the Volunteers on July 22, choosing Tennessee over Ohio State, Ole Miss and Georgia. Rivals graded him 96 out of 100 and described a physically developed, tackle-breaking runner who projects as a bell-cow back, after a junior season of 1,756 yards and 27 touchdowns that ended in a state title.

For Tennessee, the significance is straightforward. The Volunteers are not waiting on a developmental project at running back; they have a commitment from a back who has dominated a strong high school schedule week after week. Finishing a perfect regular season at Baylor would simply cap the body of work he brings to Knoxville.
