College GameDay makes its Week 8 picks from Utah, backing Tennessee at South Carolina 3-2

ESPN's College GameDay returned to Utah for a second straight Saturday, this time for the Week 8 matchup between No. 14 Houston and No. 10 Utah, and the panel worked through a slate that included Tennessee's road game at South Carolina. Former Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid, now with the Buffalo Bills, joined Desmond Howard, Nick Saban, Pat McAfee and Kirk Herbstreit as the celebrity guest picker.

In the Tennessee game, Howard, McAfee and Kincaid picked the No. 11 Volunteers, while Saban and Herbstreit took South Carolina, even with the Gamecocks listed as the surprising favorite in the matchup. Elsewhere, the desk was unanimous for No. 1 Miami over Pittsburgh, for Iowa at Minnesota, for No. 12 Kentucky over Vanderbilt and for No. 18 LSU at Auburn, and it went 4-1 for BYU at UCF, with Kincaid the lone pick for the Knights.

The panel split more sharply on several other games. Wisconsin drew McAfee, Kincaid and Herbstreit against Howard and Saban for USC, Indiana got Saban, McAfee and Herbstreit over Michigan, and in the featured Houston-Utah game Howard, Saban and Kincaid backed the Utes while Herbstreit and McAfee took Houston. In the No. 7 Ole Miss at No. 19 Texas game, only Saban picked the Longhorns, with Herbstreit not picking because he will call that contest.

For Tennessee, the 3-2 GameDay nod is a modest vote of confidence heading into Columbia, but the presence of both Saban and Herbstreit on the South Carolina side underlines the upset risk the Volunteers carry into Saturday.
