George MacIntyre gets the start at quarterback for Tennessee's trip to South Carolina

Tennessee's offense will run through George MacIntyre this week. The young quarterback is set to start for the Volunteers in their game at South Carolina, putting him under center from the opening snap in a conference road test.

The start hands MacIntyre one of the more demanding assignments on Tennessee's schedule: directing the offense away from home against a Gamecocks team playing in front of its own crowd. Road starts in the SEC have a way of defining young quarterbacks, for better or worse.

For Tennessee, MacIntyre's performance will go a long way toward deciding the afternoon. If he settles in early and manages the game the way the Vols need, Tennessee's offense should be able to operate the way it wants. If the moment gets big, it could be a long day in Columbia.
