South Carolina Passed Its Tennessee Test Without the 'SEC Flu,' Now Oklahoma Awaits

South Carolina managed to avoid the so-called 'SEC flu' when it faced Tennessee, and the question now following the Gamecocks is whether they can do the same thing again with Oklahoma next up on the schedule.

The idea behind the label is a familiar one around the Southeastern Conference, where a demanding game one week can leave a team short of its best the next time out. South Carolina sidestepped that problem against the Volunteers, which is why the same standard is now being applied to the Oklahoma matchup.

For Tennessee, the reference is a small measure of the challenge the Vols present as an opponent, even as the focus shifts elsewhere in the league. South Carolina has already shown it can handle that test once, and Oklahoma will show whether that was a one-week answer or something the Gamecocks can sustain.
