Neyland Stadium crowd hits 130.3 decibels, a verified college football record, in the Alabama win
Tennessee's win over Alabama in Week 7 came with a soundtrack that now sits in the college football record book. In front of a sold-out Neyland Stadium crowd of more than 101,000, the Vol faithful produced the loudest verified crowd peak the sport has ever recorded — 130.3 decibels — according to a post from the official Tennessee football account on X.
The peak arrived at the game's tensest moment. Late in the fourth quarter, Alabama had the ball within one score and was trying to drive downfield when a second-down sack whipped the crowd into a frenzy. On the next snap, quarterback Keelon Russell could not get the play off through the noise, and the Tide were flagged for delay of game.
Neyland's reputation as one of the sport's most punishing road environments is long established, and the atmosphere lived up to it from the opening kickoff to the final whistle, making life difficult for Kalen DeBoer and his team across all four quarters.
For Tennessee, the record is more than a novelty. It is tangible proof of the home-field edge the program trades on in its biggest games, and it now belongs to the same afternoon as a statement win over the Vols' oldest rival.
