Vols Defensive Lineman Earns Place on Bednarik Award Watch List

A Tennessee defensive lineman has been placed on the watch list for the Bednarik Award, putting a member of the Volunteers' defensive front among the players singled out for early attention in connection with the honor. The report, from Yahoo Sports, did not identify the lineman by name in the headline or summary available with the story.

Watch-list recognition gives Tennessee a presence in the initial conversation around the award and brings added attention to the program's defensive line. It does not by itself determine any later outcome, but it does mark the player as one whose work up front has drawn notice beyond the program.

For Tennessee, the nod is a point of distinction for its defense and for the lineman involved. Further details about the selection, including the player's identity, would need to come from the full original report.
