Tennessee Sits in First Four Out in Latest Playoff Projection

Tennessee is on the outside looking in in an updated College Football Playoff projection, landing in the First Four Out group. That designation places the Volunteers among the first teams left out of the projected field, close enough to remain in the conversation but still needing help and results to move in.

For Tennessee, the position underscores how narrow the margin has become as the season moves deeper into conference play. Being in the First Four Out means the Vols are not far from the cut line, but it also means their path would require climbing past other contenders in the weeks ahead rather than simply holding a spot already inside the projection.
