Tennessee Will Wear Dark Mode Uniforms Against Kentucky at Neyland Stadium

Tennessee has unveiled the dark mode uniforms it will wear for its upcoming home game against Kentucky at Neyland Stadium, with kickoff set for shortly after 6:15 p.m. ET in Knoxville. The reveal came on Friday morning and gave fans their first look at this version of the alternate uniform, which keeps a simple design that stays close to the look of the team's regular uniforms this season.

There had been added interest in what the dark mode set would become this year because Tennessee's uniforms have changed in 2026. The Volunteers returned to Adidas beginning on July 1, bringing a different base look, and that raised the question of how the program would adapt a recent tradition to the new supplier's template. Friday's answer was a restrained one rather than a dramatic redesign.

The stakes around the game go well beyond the uniforms. Tennessee is still positioned to contend for a place in the SEC title game and the College Football Playoff, even after a 27-24 loss to South Carolina last weekend on a score in the final seconds. To stay in that chase, the Volunteers will very likely have to win the rest of their games, which makes the visit from the ninth-ranked Wildcats a major opportunity and a test they cannot afford to drop.

Kentucky also brings back a favorable memory for Tennessee in these uniforms. In 2022, the third-ranked Volunteers wore dark mode against the Wildcats at Neyland and won 44-6, scoring on the opening drive and never trailing. Tennessee's defense overwhelmed Kentucky's passing attack that night, holding Will Levis to 98 yards and intercepting him three times in front of a loud home crowd. The Volunteers will be hoping for a similar atmosphere, and a similar result, this time around.
