Heupel Uses Past Lessons as Tennessee Prepares for South Carolina

Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel has reminded his team of the past as the Volunteers prepare to face South Carolina. The message comes in the buildup to the matchup, with Heupel pointing his players back to earlier experiences rather than letting them look only at what is directly in front of them.

For Tennessee, the reminder is about focus heading into the South Carolina game. Heupel's approach suggests the Volunteers are treating history as a useful lesson for the present, using what the program has already lived through to sharpen their preparation.

That mindset matters as Tennessee gets ready for South Carolina. A team that understands its past mistakes and successes is less likely to take an opponent lightly, and Heupel appears intent on making sure the Vols carry that awareness into kickoff.
