After Alabama: the good, the bad and the ugly from Tennessee's win

Every big win deserves a proper sorting, and Tennessee's victory over Alabama got one. A Yahoo Sports breakdown filed the performance into three piles — the good, the bad and the ugly — taking stock of what the Volunteers showed against the Crimson Tide.

There was plenty for the first pile. Tennessee controlled the game well enough to beat its oldest rival 26-10, the kind of complete afternoon that changes how a season gets talked about. But the format exists for the other two piles as well: the mistakes, loose ends and warning signs that a good team fixes before they cost it a game it cannot afford to lose.

That is the real value of the exercise. The Alabama win is banked; what matters now is whether the flaws buried inside it get corrected before South Carolina gets its chance to expose them.
