Walk-Thru Podcast Previews Tennessee's Road Test at South Carolina

Tennessee heads to Columbia on Saturday to face South Carolina, returning to the road a week after a dominating win over rival Alabama. The Volunteers, ranked No. 11 and sitting at 6-1, kick off against the Gamecocks at 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time at Williams-Brice Stadium, with ESPN carrying the telecast.

The matchup was the focus of the latest Walk-Thru podcast, where Brent Hubbs, Mike Wilson and Ryan Schumpert worked through the questions facing Tennessee heading into the game. Among them were whether the Vols might carry any hangover from the Alabama win, how much the offense has grown, and why Jim Knowles' defense has performed at an elite level.

South Carolina arrives at 3-3 and as the home favorite, listed with Tennessee at +2.5 and a total of 50.5. The Gamecocks looked finished two weeks ago before going to Florida, but an upset win in The Swamp has changed the outlook around Shane Beamer's team and set up a much tougher test for Josh Heupel's Vols than the records alone might suggest.

Tennessee leads the all-time series 27-11-2, dating back to 1903, and has won four of the last five meetings since 2019. The teams have not played since 2023, when Tennessee won 41-20 at Neyland Stadium, while their last meeting in Columbia in 2022 went to South Carolina in a 63-38 result.
