VolQuest podcast breaks down Tennessee's late collapse at South Carolina

No. 11 Tennessee lost 27-24 on the road at South Carolina after holding a seven-point lead late in the fourth quarter. South Carolina tied the game at 24, and Tennessee then drove toward midfield with a chance to set up a winning field goal of its own.

That drive ended when South Carolina's Dylan Stewart reached quarterback George MacIntyre and forced a fumble. The turnover flipped field position and momentum to the Gamecocks, who set up a walk-off field goal for the win. VolQuest's Austin Price, Matt Ray and Ryan Schumpert discussed that late sequence in a postgame mini-podcast breaking down the finish.

The loss comes with Tennessee heading into a bye week after beating Alabama 26-10 the previous week. South Carolina was also coming off a bye. When play resumes, Tennessee closes the regular season in November with home games against Kentucky and LSU and road games at Texas A&M and Vanderbilt.

The result also adds another chapter to a series Tennessee leads 27-11-2 dating to 1903. The teams had not played since Tennessee won 41-20 at Neyland Stadium in 2023, and South Carolina's previous home meeting with the Vols was its 63-38 win in 2022.
