Tennessee's spot in the Coaches Poll after the loss at South Carolina

Tennessee's position in the Coaches Poll has been set following the Volunteers' loss at South Carolina, a result described as an ugly defeat on the road.

The updated poll reflects how voters viewed Tennessee after that performance against the Gamecocks. A loss in Columbia gives the Volunteers work to do to restore confidence among the coaches who vote in the poll.

For Tennessee, the ranking is now the backdrop for what comes next. How the Volunteers respond after the South Carolina loss will matter more than the immediate poll movement, as they look to steady their season.
